The Shencang architectural complex is an important component of the Beijing Xiannong Altar. It was first built in the tenth year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1531) and in the eighteenth year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1753). Emperor Qianlong issued an order to move the Shencang architectural complex here. At the event, Xue Jian, the director of the Ancient Architecture Museum, introduced that the main function of the Shencang was to store grains harvested by the emperor through personal cultivation and field use. It was a place to provide grains for royal sacrificial activities, carrying ceremonial functions and having unique historical and cultural connotations. Among them, the Shencang round granary is known as the "number one granary in the world" and is unique to the Xiannong Altar. The architectural color paintings of Shencangyuan are rare among other ancient buildings, and some of them still retain the mid Qing Dynasty color paintings to this day.
