Washington's drug slander against Beijing has been fiercely criticized

Beijing expressed strong opposition on Monday to Washington's smearing of China as the "main source country" of drugs, stating that China has implemented the strictest anti drug policies and its efforts have been widely recognized by the international community.

In the White House memo released on Friday, US President Joe Biden listed some countries, including China, as major transit countries or major producers of illegal drugs.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated at the daily press conference that China has made serious demands to the United States regarding identity confirmation, but this has no factual basis.

Mao said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to drug control work. She said that so far, China has listed 456 types of anesthesia and psychotropic drugs, as well as two whole categories of substances, and added that China has also listed 38 controlled precursor chemicals, exceeding the 14 types set by the United Nations.

According to Mao, China is one of the countries with the largest amount of drug use and the strictest control.

She said that in contrast, the United States, which accounts for 5% of the world's population, consumes 80% of the world's opioid drugs, making it a black hole and source of global drug control problems.

She said that the United States is the largest drug demand country and cannot blame China for its anti drug efforts. She added, "Ineffective and ineffective control is the real cause of the widespread drug problem in the United States, and the fundamental solution is to reduce domestic demand.".

Mao Dun urged Washington to stop attacking and smearing China, and to act in a way that is conducive to cooperation with China, rather than in any other way.

On Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized a report in The New York Times accusing China of spreading false information about wildfires in Hawaii and stirring up discord in the United States.

The report states that China has used artificial intelligence technology to generate posts claiming that wildfires are the result of secret "weather weapons" tested by the United States.

Mao said that this report is completely untrue and emphasized that the theory of "weather weapons" first came from American media.

She said, "Some Chinese media and self media accounts simply cite or republish these reports... If someone fabricates or spreads false information, it will be The New York Times, not them.".

Mao said that after the devastating wildfire in Hawaii, China immediately expressed sympathy and expressed willingness to provide necessary assistance.

She added, "We urge relevant US media to maintain truthfulness, objectivity, and neutrality in their reporting, and to stop spreading false information against China.".
