The Chinese Ministry of National Defense stated on Thursday that the military forces of China and the United States are currently discussing and coordinating the next meeting based on the Military Maritime Consultative Agreement, and added that information will be released at an appropriate time.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wu Qian said at a press conference that the heads of state of China and the United States agreed to resume high-level military communication during their meeting in San Francisco.

He said, "With the joint efforts of both sides, the two armies have steadily resumed dialogue on the basis of equality and respect.".

However, the spokesperson also reiterated China's position on maritime and air military security issues with the United States.

He said that the root cause of these problems lies in the provocative behavior of US warships and aircraft near China's doorstep, engaging in long-term, wide-ranging, and high-frequency close range activities in the waters and airspace around China.

Wu said, "The Chinese military handles these situations in accordance with laws and regulations. Our actions are legitimate, reasonable, professional, and restrained.".

He said, "In order to prevent incidents at sea and in the air, the United States must stop abusing international law and all dangerous provocative actions." He pointed out that the United States should strictly regulate the activities of its frontline forces.

He said, "This is the fundamental solution to avoid accidents at sea and in the air.".
