The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) announced on Monday that it is expected to handle 80 million passenger trips during the upcoming Spring Festival travel peak period.
The government stated that this number has increased by 44.9% compared to the same period last year, and by 9.8% compared to the peak level during the 2019 Spring Festival travel rush.
Government official Liang Nan stated that this year's Spring Festival travel peak will last for 40 days, starting from January 26th and ending on March 5th.
Liang said that during the peak tourism period, the industry will handle an average of 2 million passengers per day, and it is expected that the travel volume will reach its peak on February 8th, February 16th, February 20th, and February 25th, respectively.
Liang added that during peak tourism periods, the industry will handle an average of approximately 16500 flights per day. This number is roughly the same as the level in 2019, with a 24% increase compared to the level in 2023.
