On Wednesday, the new generation supercomputing system "Tianhe Xingyi" made its debut, possessing greater capabilities in multiple fields, from computing power to storage and applications.

The National Supercomputing Center located in Guangzhou has announced this supercomputer in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province in southern China.

According to the director of the center, Lu Yutong, this new computer performs better than Tianhe-2, one of the world's fastest supercomputers, in terms of CPU computing, networking, storage, and applications.

The center stated that the operation of Tianhe Xingyi is expected to meet the growing computing needs in the fields of high-performance computing, artificial intelligence big model training, and big data analysis.

At the 2023 Supercomputing Innovation Application Conference held in Guangzhou on the 6th, the National Supercomputing Guangzhou Center released the new generation of domestic supercomputing system "Tianhe Xingyi", which has doubled the computing power, network capacity, storage capacity, and application service capacity of "Tianhe-2" in various aspects compared to "Tianhe-2", in order to meet the growing demand for high-performance computing The demand for artificial intelligence big model training and big data analysis in various application scenarios further enhances the multi domain application service capabilities of the center.

According to Lu Yutong, Director of the National Supercomputing Guangzhou Center, "Tianhe Xingyi" focuses on applications and adopts key technologies such as advanced domestic computing architecture, high-performance multi-core processors, high-speed interconnection networks, and large-scale storage. It will provide strong high-end computing power and platform support for cutting-edge technological breakthroughs, strategic engineering construction, and industrial upgrading and transformation in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, and the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.

Liao Xiangke, Chief Designer of the Tianhe-2 Development Project for the National Supercomputing Guangzhou Center Business Host, stated that Tianhe-2 was successfully developed in 2013 and has won the TOP500 World Supercomputing Championships multiple times, which is an important milestone for China's supercomputing system development to enter the world's leading ranks. However, domestic supercomputing applications have always been a challenge for China's supercomputing development. "With the support of multiple parties, the National Supercomputing Guangzhou Center has formed a first-class talent team and developed a series of domain oriented supercomputing application platforms, supporting various industries to achieve significant application results and effectively expanding the domestic supercomputing application ecosystem."

Lu Yutong stated that in the past decade of development, the National Supercomputing Guangzhou Center has created a domain oriented application service platform, with the number of users increasing from over 300 to over 300000. The Tianhe-2 supercomputing application has been selected as one of China's top ten technological advancements.
