The new version of the Permanent Residence Identity Card for Foreigners of the People's Republic of China was officially issued and put into use on December 1st. The new permanent residence permit is called a "five-star card" due to the addition of a five-star element that reflects the national identity. On the first day, a total of 50 foreigners who obtained permanent residency in China received the first batch of "five-star cards". They come from more than 20 countries, including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Sweden, Singapore, South Korea, and others. They are all outstanding contributors to China's economic and social development in various fields such as economy, education, technology, culture, and health. They include recipients of the Chinese Government Friendship Award, foreign high-level management and professional technical personnel who have been working in China for a long time, and key universities Foreign professors and scholars who have been engaged in teaching and research for a long time in research institutions. On that day, at the entry and exit permit application windows of public security organs in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangdong and other places, many permanent resident foreigners came to consult and apply for the replacement of the "Five Star Card".

The relevant person in charge of the National Immigration Administration introduced that the "Five Star Card" is issued by the National Immigration Administration and is a legal identity document approved for permanent residency of foreigners in China. The holder of the certificate can use it alone as a personal identity certificate in situations where personal identity needs to be proven, without the need to present their foreign passport. The Five Star Card optimizes the storage method of document information, beautifies the layout, adopts more advanced anti-counterfeiting technology, and enhances personal information protection and data security. The National Immigration Administration, together with relevant departments, vigorously promotes the upgrading and renovation of application systems and facilities in various related industries, making it easier for holders to use them in public services, government services, and internet platforms such as transportation, daily consumption, financial communication, etc.
