On December 15th, at the Operating System Conference 2023 held in Beijing, Jiang Dayong, Chairman of the OpenEuler Committee, introduced to Observer Network that as of now, Euler's cumulative installed capacity has exceeded 6.1 million sets. At the same time, IDC predicted at the meeting that in 2023, the OpenEuler series will have a new market share of 36.8% in the Chinese server operating system, nearly twice that of CentOS. This means that after four years of open source, OpenEuler has grown into China's first server operating system.

In the view of Liu Wenqing, Vice Chairman of the OpenEuler Committee, "Users actively choosing the OpenEuler technology route indicates that the roots of the Chinese operating system are firmly established. Since everyone has this consensus, the ecosystem will form an effect of active convergence and adaptation."

Compared to earlier services for Huawei Kunpeng processors, today's OpenEuler supports all mainstream general-purpose computing architectures such as ARM, X86, RISC-V. In the era of artificial intelligence, OpenEuler was also the first to support mainstream AI processors such as Nvidia and Ascend. Through unified management and scheduling of heterogeneous resources, openEuler can achieve deep integration of CPU and XPU, bridging the gap between general computing power and AI computing power, effectively improving the training and inference efficiency of large models.

In history, device side chips had weak capabilities and could only run a single operating system. Now, as chip capabilities become stronger, a device may have multiple operating systems, including both Euler and HarmonyOS. For those with user interaction, using the HarmonyOS ecosystem may be better, while for those with high requirements for certainty and reliability, using Euler is better. Now Euler and HarmonyOS have implemented distributed suite capabilities, and the underlying kernel is largely shared and can be ecologically interconnected.

As of now, the cumulative installed capacity of Euler has exceeded 6.1 million sets. The forecast released by market research firm IDC at the meeting shows that by 2023, the OpenEuler series will have a new market share of 36.8% in the Chinese server operating system, with CentOS/Red Riding Hood accounting for 20.7%, Windows accounting for 19.3%, Ubuntu/Debian accounting for 10.1%, and other Linux operating systems accounting for 13.1%. This means that Euler has become the first basic software in China to achieve the first increase in market share.

In the new market, users actively choose the OpenEuler technology route, indicating that the root of the Chinese operating system is firmly established. There is no clear support point for where the root of the original operating system lies. Today, it can be seen from this number that 36.8% of users in the new market for server operating systems in China in 2023 have chosen the Euler technology route. Since everyone has this consensus, the ecosystem will form an active convergence and adaptation effect.

OpenEuler is committed to building an international open source assistance platform. The openEuler community has implemented native support for dozens of mainstream open-source software covering multiple fields, such as Apache, SIF, OPENCV, etc; In terms of software security governance, the openEuler community collaborates with international organizations such as openCHIN and OPENDELX to jointly develop open source software supply chain security standards, contributing Chinese solutions to address open source community governance and software security issues.
