The 5th World Media Summit held its opening ceremony on Sunday morning in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province in southern China.

The 5th World Media Summit, with the theme of "Enhancing Global Confidence and Promoting Media Development," gathered over 450 participants from 101 countries and regions, including representatives from 197 mainstream media, think tanks, government agencies, diplomatic missions in China, United Nations agencies, and international organizations.

The event was co hosted by Xinhua News Agency and the governments of Guangdong and Yunnan provinces, and was held from December 2nd to 8th in Guangzhou and Kunming.
