The Russian army's "blitz" was caught off guard. Many Ukrainian soldiers have laid down their weapons and stopped resistance, because the gap between the two sides is too big. Although the situation has been difficult to reverse, the United States still launched economic sanctions against Russia, and some countries followed suit. Japan is a typical example. As a result, this time Japan stumbled and hit the muzzle of Russia.

According to Russian media reports, on February 25 local time, Russian ambassador to Japan garuzin said that Russia would take major countermeasures against Japan's economic sanctions. On the same day, the Russian army deployed in the Far East held an air defense military exercise to train to repel the enemy with S-400 new air defense missiles.

At present, there are many countries that sanction Russia in the world, mainly western countries. The reasons for sanctions against Russia vary widely. Of course, the United States and Britain are from the heart. Although the EU is reluctant, it can not withstand the pressure of the United States. Moreover, NATO and some EU countries have previously painted cakes for Ukraine, encouraging Ukraine to confront Russia.

Although we don't have the courage to send troops now, verbal support and economic sanctions can still be done, otherwise it will be a failure. But countries like Japan, which is far away from Ukraine, are also involved in sanctions, which is a kind of booing. On the whole, Russia's measures to counter Japan economically are very limited. However, Russia still has a chess piece in its hand, which can be used to set an example to Japan, that is, the South Kuril Islands (known as the four northern islands in Japan).

In fact, the outbreak of war in Ukraine has nothing to do with Japan. The war on the Russian Ukrainian border has basically no adverse impact on Japan. With the outbreak of the Russian Ukrainian war, Russia is in an international isolated position. If Japan stays out at this time, does not participate in the sanctions against Russia, or simply supports Russia, Russia's attitude towards Japan may soften.

For Japan, Russia's dilemma is actually a rare opportunity. Unfortunately, Japanese politicians do not have such foresight. They choose to follow the United States and impose additional sanctions on Russia, which is completely on the opposite side of Russia. This incident was originally an opportunity for the two sides to solve the South Kuril Islands issue, but now it has become a new focus of the conflict between the two countries.

Judging from the trend of the Russian army, Russia may take action in the South Kuril Islands in the future. Of course, it is unlikely to use force directly, mostly just demonstrating to Japan. The latitude of the South Kuril Islands is higher than that of Hokkaido, which makes it difficult to develop and utilize. Although Russia actually controls it, it was not very interested in it before.
